...Which would explain why you wanted to stop negative emotions, even if it came at the cost of positive ones. So no one else could turn into a daemon.
That's what I was thinking. It's not easy to think about, but knowing what the thought process was helps a bit. Especially when it comes to something like this. If there really wasn't any other way to combat the malevolence... well, I can see why a decision like that is something you could come to. Don't get me wrong, it still sounds crazy. But it's the sort of crazy someone who is really desperate to save the world could agree with.

I'm glad it'll make things a bit easier for you, though.
Thank you for talking it over with me. And for understanding all of this.

I have reason to think that something...bad may happen, as a result of Retrospec giving us things from our past lives. It isn't anything life-threatening or unlivable, and I'll be all right. But... Well. Can I contact you, if things are difficult?
[Okay. Okay, just saying it should be fine, he's gotten this far without Shigure thinking badly of him or anything, so - ]
I've remembered being injured, and the damage I took from it seems to have been permanent. I was partially paralyzed on my right side, I lost the use of my arm from the shoulder down.
[He remembers Arthur having use of both arms, but now that he thinks about it, he does remember Arthur keeping his right arm covered by that exact same ridiculous outfit...]
You're right-handed, aren't you? That... sounds like it'll be a huge pain.
...Of course you can count on me if that happens. You can call me whenever, and I'll do what I can to help.
But it's no problem! We've learned some important stuff, and best of all, you even wore the stupid outfit. I take back every single time I said you've got no sense of humor!
People actually took me surprisingly seriously. I know I gave a speech once - talking to a large number of people about how I planned on shackling them all with the bonds of reason, and serve as a blade to dispel calamity and rid them of their suffering. It was a bit like welcoming them all to the cult, honestly...
Yikes. Didn't realize we were a pretentious cult! I'm not sure what to think of the people going along with all of this either... Either they were all very desperate, or really crazy. Not sure which one I prefer.
Yeah. It's a lot to take in, and I doubt the rest of our memories are going to be a walk in the park, but I'm sure we'll be fine. I just wanted to double check though, since that's a lot to take in.
[He shrugs a bit once that's out there, though.]
Glad you'll be all right, though! Be sure to let me know if anything comes up and you need help - doesn't have to be just because of the arm either.

Yeah. The thing that turns people into daemons. Did you remember something about it?
no subject
It's largely caused by negative emotions.
[...Which honestly explains a lot.]
no subject
[It's crazy, but it's crazy logic he can follow.]
no subject
That's why stripping everyone of their emotions was "saving the world."
no subject
[It's a complicated issue, isn't it...]
It probably makes it a bit easier to know that was the thought process behind it, yeah?
no subject
[He's actually surprised at how relieved he is at it; it feels sort of wrong, honestly...]
It doesn't make what I did any better, but it's... I don't know, it's good to know that there was any sort of process behind it at all.

What sort of bad thing are we talking? More memories or something?

I should be all right, and I clearly learned to live with it well enough back then. But...I do appreciate knowing that that's an option. Thank you.

I'm glad you came over tonight.

...Which is a pretty big honor, actually.

[It was a thing.]
That speech went over...very well with the people, incidentally, despite it sounding blatantly insane.

I guess we'll learn more about all of that in time. For now, though... You'll be okay, right?
no subject
Yes, of course.

It's all a bit much, I'll admit that. But... I think I'll be all right, yes.
