He was created to be the next step in evolution. Someone designed to far surpass the human race, in order to pass judgement upon them. To decide, ultimately, who lived and who died - who deserved to inherit the earth, and who deserved to be wiped off the face of it.
Bluntly put, he was created to be a god.
Unfortunately, he was made that way through brainwashing and human experimentation; by the time he got away from all of that, he was no longer human. He was never shown much kindness, nor did he have any to offer to anyone else. He was arrogant, and saw no value in anyone but himself. So when the time came to pass judgement, he killed his creator and decided to destroy the human race. To start over. Those that survived the purge would be those that were considered "chosen", and by the time he was done with them they would be greatly mutated by the process.
No more humans; just monsters, like him. That was the goal.
[...You know, he doesn't usually get that sort of response? From Jaeger, yes, but usually it's just...morbid curiosity and more questions. Not that he minds that, and he doesn't ask for sympathy with regards to these things anyway, but...]
It's appreciated, but it's fine now. It wasn't when the memories first started, and it's taken me about a year and a half since the worst of it happened to be a bit more at peace with it. But it doesn't trouble me to talk about it anymore.
Medical experimentation. I was infected with viruses intended to enhance the host. Speed, strength, durability... All of that is far beyond normal human limitations now, as are my regenerative abilities and the fact that I can't die.
[It's been over a year since he last done this; at least he's somewhat braced for the pain this time, because he isn't still in shock from getting hit by a goddamn bus and he is fully cognizant of the fact that head wounds hurt.
Either way, he just takes the handgun and presses the muzzle of it up against his temple; he takes a brief moment to breathe before pulling the trigger.
And yeah, it still hurts.
He stumbles a bit, but he manages to not drop. There's blood, but it's surprisingly little given the fact that he just shot himself in the goddamn head; it seems to have merely broken skin, and by the time he catches himself the actual injury isn't anywhere to be seen, having healed itself almost instantly. He shakes his head a bit as though to clear it; none the worse for wear, really.]
People used to shoot me in the head as a deterrent back then. It didn't always work.
Yes, if it injures me at all. Hitting me with blunt objects tends to just break the object, it doesn't even break skin. I've been hit with steel bars before.
...Seems like a bad idea, what if it actually kills you? It's not like you'll have to worry about poison normally. Probably. I mean for all I know, all of the monsters have the ability to poison you so maybe I'm completely wrong here.
